Greek yoghurt Keto ice pops with Sea Buckthorn and berries – Quickest possible!

Greek Yoghurt Keto ideas never grow old. Everybody loves Greek yoghurt, but we need to remember the important thing: Greek yoghurt originally was never made with cow’s milk! This is an invention of the modern dairy industry! In Greece, sheep and goats were dominant domesticated animals and cows were extremely rare.

As you can read in this article, cow’s dairy in today’s world is not the best and healthiest Keto choice! The overproduction of A1 casein cow’s milk brought various health and digestive problems.

Cow’s milk today is just not as good as goat or sheep is!

If you are a Greek Goes Keto regular visitor, or maybe you follow us on social media, then you most probably know we keep singing odes to goat dairy! The reason for this lays in the fact that cow’s milk is overproduced, industrialised, hormone-aided and it’s full of lactose and A1 casein. This type of casein, which is widely present in cow’s milk, is promoting inflammation and poor digestion.

For this reason, we keep asking our dear Ketonians to switch to goat, sheep or buffalo dairy for optimal health!

Goat, sheep and buffalo milk contain A2 casein, which is not inflammatory and less likely to cause digestive problems than the A1 casein found in cow’s milk. 

What berries to use?

Greek Yoghurt Keto treats can be enriched with various berries. We chose Sea buckthorn because they were finally available to us. In Greece, you can buy in almost every health store. The unmatchable nutrient combo in these berries will make you feel as strong as a Centaur! No, really, in Greek the name of these berries means shiny horse (Hippophae).

As quick and easy as it can be!

You don’t need a mixer, not even a bowl. just a deep plate, fork and creativity. Of cuourse, ice pop moulds are crucial here! We used silicone ones, but the metallic ones would speed the freezing time.

We strongly recommend searching for Authentic goat or sheep milk Greek yoghurt. However, if you cannot find it, it would be much better to use cultured sour cream. When it comes to berries, you can use any Keto friendly berries as long as you don’t exceed the amount in the recipes. You can use unsweetened dried berries, fresh or frozen. It’s all up to your creativity 😉 😉 😉

Notice how we did not use any sweetener?

Our taste buds are so well trained after 2 years that we really don’t need any sweetener in this recipe, yet it tastes sweet to us. However, if you are not still at that stage, we recommend using a small dose (10mg) of 100% stevia extract or monk fruit extract.

Ingredients

  • 260g (9 oz) Greek yoghurt (preferably goat or sheep)

  • 30 g unsweetened dried berries (we used Sea Buckthorn)

  • 20g blueberries (frozen or fresh)

  • 30g raspberries (frozen or fresh)

Directions

  • In a deep plate, mix the yoghurt with berries.
  • Carefully transfer the mixture in ice pops moulds and place the sticks or holders in the middle.
  • Freeze for at least 2-4 hours.
  • After you take the moulds out of the freezer, let them sit for 5 minutes at room temperature so that ice pops can be easily pulled out.
